So lately while opening Cydia, a message has been popping up asking if I want to 'upgrade essentials', 'complete upgrade', or ignore [temporary]. I've been choosing the last one since this is something I'm new to, and ignoring the message each time. But then the next time I opened Cydia, it started 'repairing' and it would get stuck on the repairing screen. Now I'm a little worried.

Basically, before getting stuck at the repairing screen, I had a half-installed app.

So 1. Was getting stuck at the repairing screen a result of the half-installed app, or because I was ignoring the updates?

    2. Can I just keep ignoring the updates, because I heard that updating stuff on Cydia could kill your iPhone.

I'm getting kind of sick of Cydia's weird activity and I'd also personally like a response whether replacing it with Rock would be a good or bad idea. Thank you.

Edit: Um, did I put this in the wrong section? >_<

upgrade it dude.no problem.it usually happens after a fresh restore.
DONNOT USE ROCK.IT CAUSES PROBLEMS.EVEN DONNOT USE APPS FROM CYDIA,THAT REQUIRES ROCK EXTENSIONS.WHEN YOU HIT INSTALL IN CYDIA,LOOK DOWN WHAT ARE YOU INSTALLING.IF THAT CONTAINS SOME ROCK EXTENSION(S),AVOID INSTALLING.

Well, Rock didn't work anyways, so I just got Icy. I clicked update and nothing happened... I'm really scared that Cydia might just one day get me stuck completely at the repairing thing and destroy my iPhone. I think I'm just gonna use Icy as a replacement from now on. Would you guys say I could pull this off?

Dude, I 100% agree with you, but try to avoid using all caps.

Icy was discontinued so it no longer works. Stick with Cydia.

Alright, I'm going to upgrade the essentials. It can't crash from updating too many packages right?

    19 essential upgrades
    66 total...

Edit: Will if affect me if I never upgrade the non-essentials? And upgrading essentials shouldn't affect anything outside of the Cydia application, right? [such as my Lockscreen or Springboard or something]
