The main cydia home screen (what greets you when you first open it) is taking a VERY long time since jailbreaking my ios4 2g touch. Like, I've only reached it once, and that was after 5 minutes. I've downloaded a few packages ok (openssh and winterboarder), but the main screen will get past the "reloading data" screen then it will say 'Loading' on the top bar (below the statsbar)and the button that usually says reload has a spinning wheel and it won't let me do nothin. And then it either gives me a 504 error (Gateway timeout error), it will say "Unable to load" (the request timed out), or I'll reach the cydia home screen but hitting "featured packages" or "featured themes" will give me the same errors.

I've tried rebooting (I actually rebooted right after using jailbreakme) and yes, I pressed "complete install" after opening cydia.

I'm guessing Saurik's server is just under heavy load after the ios4 jailbreak was released, but if there's a fix for this, drop me a line.

On a sorta-related note though, is it normal for there to be a line of different colors on the ipod and to see the wheel (but it's not spinning) on the bottom half of the apple logo? That kinda scared me the first time I saw it, but I can reboot ok.

    Thanks in advance.

Yeah, but this is way different then when I was on my 3.1.2 jb. I can't reach the home screen until 5 minutes after opening cydia.

Cydia is a pain to load.Just give it time. It's probably being overloaded so give it time.

I wouldn't be surprised if the JB gets a LOT more popular with the recent legislation.

I know of a couple people who were "scared" to jailbreak, silly as it may sound.

Hopefully the mad-rush of people doesn't cause a long-standing problem with loadtimes.

On topic- this happend to me two when it happes i just reboot and it starts to work.
Also make sure you dont need anything to be updated/upgrades sense i think there was a problem with jailbreakme.com
and they uploaded an update on cydia.
But cydia is overload sense its jailbreak season

I think someone should re-code Cydia and call it Cydia Lite. Faster version for impatient people!
