    Hi,

I recently got Cydia and I was trying out a few new sources. But Cydia started to crash afterwards and jump back to the springboard every time I tried to use it. I'm not sure if it's the sources' fault, since I installed those into Installer as well and my Installer still works.

But anyways I tried opening terminal on SSH and typing these:

If it's crashing, open terminal, and type the following:

    su root (hit return)

    alpine (hit return)

    apt-get remove cydia (hit return)

Yes, do as I say! (hit return)

    apt-get install cydia (hit return)

Then exit, and open Cydia. Voila!

but I would get an error message right after typing su root saying that connection timed out after 45sec. So then I tried to go directly to the apt-get remove cydia step and of course, I got an error message there as well. Any ideas? I think I'm probably just doing something wrong with the terminal, but I'm really new to this and don't know.

    Thanks!!

    Update:
Here is the error I get when I type in apt-get remove

    /private/var/lib/apt/lists$ apt-get remove
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
    E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/rep.sources.co.il_._Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
    Reading package lists...

Does anyone know about how to remove rep.sources.co.il_._Packages?
I tried removing it the first time, and Cydia started to work and even updated, but then the source would reinstall itself and Cydia will crash again. I can't remove Cydia from SSH either because SSH freezes when I try to do so. I tried renaming remove rep.sources.co.il_._Packages, but this time I can neither remove it nor rename it again. Please someone help!!!

Ahh I was really tring to avoid restoring...of course, it's an option, but I have so many things installed (try 4pages..) that I'd have to reinstall everything. Any other options?

Haha, I've got 4 pages of applications too. Erm, unfortunately, I'm still on 1.1.4 so I can't really help beyond suggesting a restore.

Anyone feel like chipping in and helping out?

SSH in and remove all files in /etc/apt/sources.list.d BESIDES saurik.list.

Then SSH Terminal.app ([PIRACY.mf] download) into /Applications. Respring, and open it on your iPod.

    Then, type:

    su root (hit return)

    alpine (hit return)

    apt-get remove cydia (hit return)

Yes, do as I say! (hit return)

    apt-get install cydia (hit return)

    killall SpringBoard
    (hit return)

Then open it up and REINSTALL "Cydia Community Sources"

open up terminal on your mac or cmd on windows and type ssh root@ip address.(your ipod's address)

and then log in to root and then do the commands, but from your comp.

I have the same problem. I removed cydia using terminal and then now when i try to type "apt-get install cydia" it starts to work and when i type "Yes" when it asks me to continue, it gets this error:
E: Internal Error, Could not perform immediate configuration (2) on essential.
And i dont have blackra1n any more so i cant reinstall cydia that way. I tried using blackra1n again to give me the app so i can reinstall cydia but it doesnt work.
    Could anyone help me?
