it just started happening 2 days ago don't know why, and I don't know what to do. it starts and all of a sudden just exits. I already tried re-jailbreaking it, but nothing. so Any help would be Crazly appreciated

Cydia does randomly exit in my case as well - too often for me to ignore it. However, re-launching it usually works. Are you able to re-launch & use it?

Are you on jailbroken 3.0? If yes, did you have the Icy option checked while jailbreaking? If yes, then re-jailbreak using redsn0w. This time around leave the Icy option unchecked.

What version of redsn0w did you use? I used 0.72 and * I think * the Icy option was checked by default. Can you retry & see?

    Solution

I had the same problem a few weeks ago on my 1st gen iPod Touch, here is what you need to do.

    Via SSH:
var / lib / apt / lists and delete all the files in there. (except the "partial" folder).

Not to worry though, once you delete these and load Cydia up successfully the sources will refresh and you will still have your previous state.

yes! i was going to post exactly that , but you beat me to it

that will do it. it kills all the refresh sources thing, then rebuids it. works like a charm

Would this fix the frequent cydia crashes as well? If so, then great stuff! Thanks.

Thanks for the tip; cydia appears to be much stabler now. Does this need to be done from time to time?
