is there any other may to make custom SMS tones with out jailbreaking ??? FYI im using OS X
FYI You can't.
ah, thx 4 the info :\
actually, Yes you can. i managed to figure out how to do it a while ago.
first, get an mp3 sound of your SMS sound (make sure its under 3 seconds) and add it to your iTunes library. right click it, then create .aiff. then it will convert it to an .aiff file. then find that file and rename the extension .aiff to .caf and the file name to sms-received#.caf (the # will be replaced by a number between 1-6, which ever tone you do not need. eg. if you dont want Tri-Tone anymore, then you would use sms-received1.caf as the name)
Now, SSH into your iPhone to /System/Library/Audio/UISounds and replace any one of the following files:
sms-received#.caf (the # is a number, in the order that the UI sounds appear in the settings of the iPhone). after you replaced the file, go to Settings > Sounds > Text Message, and pick the replaced sound.
hope that helps.
