I have an IPOD Touch 2G with 2.2.1 firmware and redTool applied. I would like to create a backup of the whole thing including Apps, Games, Songs, etc. into one IPSW file so I could later restore it if needed. I know that an IPSW file is basically a zip file renamed and inside the file are some .dmg files among others. DMG is basically an apple disk image of your ipod.

So anyone know how I could go about to create an image of my ipod and store it as an IPSW file so I could easily restore using iTunes?

Check the redTool 2.0 features list, this is planned for a future version (most likely 2.3)
    I believe it is possible.

Yes that is what I was thinking about. Now I can't wait for this tool to be released!

Thank you for proving me wrong. I was just guessing. Could you care to describe how you can do this?

    Its rather interesting.
