    I recently downloaded the gameboy4iphone emulator from ZodTTD and have run into a little problem. When I opened up the app, a pop-up appeared saying "No ROMs found. Would you like to find them?". I tapped yes, and was directed to a website of which will remain unknown. The website told me that downloading ROMs was perfectly legal if I owned a physical copy of the game (which I do).

    My question is;

    Is this true? And can we talk about getting ROMs here on iPTF?

    Its against the forum rules to talk about roms and where to get them.

    In the US, i believe its still illegal to have roms even if you own the game itself. As for other countries, I can't be sure.

    It is illegal in the US as well as not allowed to be discussed on this forum. For more information please sift through Google. Sorry man.

    Downloading a ROM is illegal even if you own a physical copy.

    Also all emulators promote piracy so emulation discussion should be illegal as well.

    Emulators aren't illegal though. That's why you see several guides on this site about emulators.

    Emulators promote emulation. Emulators are not illegal, the discussion of emulators is not illegal.
