I have a link to an mp3 stream that I listen to on my ipod but not only can I not bookmark it... but it's a pain to navigate to..

is there any function that allows me to create a desktop icon that is simply a link to the stream directly.. ?

(I can't bookmark it because as soon as I click it, the ipod enters the media screen mode)

if it has a link like "click here to listen", hold on it until it shows up the copy popup; copy the URL and paste it in a bookmark

Can I make a desktop icon of a bookmark?

And, after copying, there is no way for me to just add a url bookmark. I have to use the add bookmark feature on an actual web page

Just a suggestion. Try the "Tunemark" app. It locates stations on the shoutcast database. Plus it will play in the background while using other apps (even on pre iOS4). Also, you can add custom URL's. So once you have it loaded, it will go right to it. It's free.

Once Safari launches, and the audio starts ... hit the Home button and you can use other apps.
