i have got my touch now for 3 days and i use it with my active speakers or my headphones. the situation is like that:
    -the ipod is off
    - when i press the power button very quickly it does not turn on (but i think this schould be like that)
    - but when i press the button so quickly that it doesn't turn on i get cracking noise (louder with active speakers then with headphones) from the output jack. when i press it more frequently it becomes silenter (i was thinking of residual voltage). but when i wait a little moment and the click the button again the noise is louder again. is this normal or a short circuit?

btw way: when i touch the chrome back with the plug of the active speakers i can hear pretty loud noise too.

is this normal or an electric failure?

    Hm, sounds odd..

I suggest making an appointment and taking it to your local Apple Store and let the Geniuses take a look at it.

Remember to restore if you take it in though.

hm. that's sad^^ i live in germany and there are no apple-stores here.

no problem. my ipod is still and will be in jail until the brick-roumor is cleared up...

but maybe so can try this at home: turn your ipod on and take the jack of your pc-speakers (turned on and maybe cranked up a lil bit) an then touch the chrome-backside of the ipod with the jack.
    Do you hear noise then?
