I'm interested in this question as well as I may do the same in the future. My Touch was formated on a PC. Will I have to reformat it for the Mac and lose everything? My PC is in it's final stages of life - cheyne-stoke grinding!

you wont have to reformat your ipod, its file system is watered down mac OS X(i beleive), itunes 9 does work with any ipod touch 3.0 and up, and lastly, to transfer, i would say transfer it all to your ipod(if you have that much room) or if you dont, and you have a router, share the files, and if you dont, make a network for a short time with the ethernet cables and copy the files over(not sure how, but google will definitley help if no one else on here can), or of course you can use an external hard drive if you have one.

hope that helped, if i miss anything tell me and ill answer it as best as i can

It doesn't have to be jailbroken.

Yep, if you get a new MacBook it will have iTunes 9 pre installed, and it will work with your iPod touch.

However, because it's a new computer, if you sync your iPod to it you will have to wipe it first, as an iPod can only be synced to one library at a time.

That's right, I didn't mention SwapTunes because it's not so seamless
