i was wondering if there is any point to convert from a "lossy" format like AAC to Apple Lossless. I feel like I notice a difference, but it could be just psychosomatic. Or is Apple Lossless only impact sound quality when it is the initial format you use to import an album into your library.

Thanks for the advice! I'm very interested in your opinions.

If the bitrate is 312 then there should be a minute drop in quality when converted to lossless, but if its 128 then much more noticeable. Either way it's better to stay with AAC unless you're ripping the cd directly to it.

you can't convert lossy to lossless, it will always degrade the sound
