does any one know of a program I could use to rip the file and then convert it onto my touch?
I've used this (in conjunction with dvd decrypter) and it works pretty well: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/
Although I haven't used it, DVD FAB is supposed to be good too. According to other posters, this program rips the DVD and converts right to the iPOD format.
DVD video to Ipod T
I use DVD Shrink, or DVD Decrypter to create the VOB files and then use a program I found called,
"Videora iPod Converter"
do a Google for the above, it is free and works great for all kinds of video to the Ipod T

theres also a wiki on it so look that up.
Videora is self explanitory and it even has a conversion wizard now.

I use a program named "Handbrake". It is free and works great for me. It is a one step process to convert a DVD and load it into your iTunes Library. Then you are ready to go.
You can find it at http://handbrake.m0k.org/
If you are using Windows Vista just make sure when you open the program do it from it's desktop icon by right clicking the icon and choosing "run as administrator" and it will work just fine.
Be patient as the entire process takes about 3 to 4 hours. But once you start it just walk away. No further steps are needed.
I use cucusoft DVD to IPOD converter. One click conversion. Works pretty well.
I used to use cucusoft for my Zune.
It was really good!
