Is there a way to "convert" from a standard jailbreak to semi-tethered? Without loosing any data (apply the firmwares all over again).

    Thanks.

The semi-tethered jailbreak does not support WinterBoard (WinterBoard makes it hang on nonjailbroken bootup), so if you like themes, don't switch.

Does anyone know if MobileSubstrate works?

Edit: It looks like I was wrong. You can apply a patch to WinterBoard to make it work.

    MobileSubstrate breaks the normal boot

and yes it is possible to do a rolling upgrade from tethered to semi-tethered, but it is very advanced and hard to do

yeah i was talking to gojohnniboi about this. i was asking him (since he is developing a semi-tethered automated program) if he could make it so that all of us who want to keep our stuff but want to go semi-tethered, could keep our stuff. kinda do like what the newest quickpwn does, where all of the music and apps stay intact. (ive done this for a 1g ipod touch so i know its like that). so lets keep our ears open for that, cause that could work. gojohnniboi is a pretty good programmer, so i think he could pull it off.
