I've had my iPod touch for the past week and all I can say about it is how amazing the thing is.

However, i've explored it so much that I want more, so I have a few questions to ask about the famous jailbreak i've been hearing about. Sorry if these questions seem obvious, but i'm new to this whole concept.

    1. I have a 2G ipod with 2.1.1 firmware - i'm pretty sure this is jailbreakable but just to make sure i'm wondering if it's possible.

    2. What are the odds of bricking my iPod if i'm doing this from Windows XP?

    3. If I want to upgrade my iPod's firmware from a custom firmware (for example, to the new 3.0 update this summer), can I do this from my jailbroken iPod to the regular firmware?

    4. Is the interface simple to use on my iPod after I jailbreak it? Or in other words, will I be lost directly after I jailbreak my iPod?

    5. Can you name some apps that I would be able to download that wouldn't be possible with my current firmware?

Answering these questions is much appreciated! Thanks guys and i'm happy to be a part of the community! =)

    3. I think, restore just to be safe
    4. The interface does not change

Oh and sorry, I forgot a question. I'm aware that I lose everything after I JB my iPod. If I just sync my iPod to iTunes afterwards, will I get everything back I had when I was running the normal firmware?

A: it can't be bricked unless you mess with the irecovery. Use Quickfreedom.

A: Yes you can. just restore to 3.0

A: Nope, Jailbreaking lets you access the root directory of the ipod, unlike the nonjailbroken ipods. You won't be lost.
