It's probably like a wireless printer or something... what's the name of the network?

    wifi connected, no internet

Well, like today I was at City Hall and they had a wifi network called GuestWIFI or something like that. I could connect fine, but no Internet.

Not every wi-fi network is connected to the internet. Many places have wireless networking between computers, and no internet over that wi-fi connection.

If it was at a place advertising free wi-fi internet (IE, a coffee shop, internet cafe, etc), it could be an issue. However, because it's at a city hall (and because we all know how efficient local government can be.

), I'd bet money that there's just no internet connected to it.

Well usually try Safari, like at Bob Evans, you usually have to agree to terms that show up on a page then it works fine and well and gives total access to your ipod.

Because some bitter, hateful City Hall employee gets his rocks off seeing people sit puzzled when they can't get their iPod Touches, netbooks, laptops, and other wi-fi devices to connect to the internet?

Of course, it could also be some other backwards-ass City Hall themed reason.

You need to open up safari first and probably agree to their T&C's, before anything else.
