I have a jailbroken ipod touch 2g and stupidly didnt restore it before i tried to update it to 3.1.1.3 and not it just shows a picture of a cable with an arrow pointing to itunes. Everytime i plug in my ipod it just says found new hardware usb device and doesnt recognise my ipod. When i try to update this new it just says cannot continue hardware. I tried putting it into DFU mode and still nothing. What do I do?

You're probably not doing DFU right. Keep trying as the timing can be finicky.

    dfu

i managed to put it into dfu mode and on the main screen it says ipod serial number: n/a capacity: n/a software version: n/a. Below that, it gives me to options, update or restore. update is greyed out and it says your software is up to date. what do i do? Do i just restore it?

Do you want to be on 3.1.3? Because you will lose your jailbreak.
