    what is impossible

can't the drivers be made to work on the touch, considering that mst of these 3g usb modems have unix drivers I can't see why it could not be made to work

Drivers are implimented within the kernel. To add a new driver would involve re-compillin ghte kernel with module support.
    It's not going to happen.

The ipod has a USB device interface with OTG (on the go) capabilities. Afaik there is no USB 3G modem that supports OTG access (just printers and some storage devices).
You'll need a USB host interface to connect a normal USB 3G modem.
