    [UPDATE] 1G iPod Touch Mic WORKS

    ***UPDATE 2***

    video uploaded ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGEu-qI04Kw

    ***UPDATE***

    Due to the ice storm here in New Hamspire, my power will be out for quite a while. I'm at my grandmother's house now, but I can't make a vid since she doesn't have a usable WIFI router to make calls =\ Later this weekend I'll get back home where it's warm (and can turn on my computer)

    The Mic I have: UNMODDED iVoiceIII

    I can confirm all the rumors that the iVoiceIII works on iPod touches 1G 2.2 software. I had to do no soft/hardmods whatsoever to get the mic to work, it simply turned on when I started my call with Fring.

    Since I need to go to work in 15 mins, I can't spend time with other applications =\ As of now, I've tried Evernote(sp?,the icon with the elephant) and I could not get the voice recordin' to show up (since I was usin' the app on an iPod) It seems to be able to use the mic in more applications we'll have to mod the apps to remain unneutered for the iPod Touch. Anyone up to it? =}

    ***UPDATE*** I can confirm iTalk the voice recorder works, but it must be added via SSH

    Happy Free SIP calls!

    so if we upgrade to like 2.3 in the future, will the mic not work anymore?

    That's something nobody really knows.
    That feature might not work in 2.3, but eventually work on 2.5 because of some odd reason nobody knows of.

    But wow, imagine what 2.5 would be like....
    At least for me, 2.2 was a pretty nice upgrade.

    I've found the same thing. My iVoiceIII arrived the other day, and I successfully made a call through Fring/Skype to a land line tonight on my 1G Touch. My only problem is that the volume level through my headphones on Fring is REALLY low. I have to use it in a quiet room to be able to hear anything.

    Anyone know a trick to boost the volume level in the headphones when using Fring? The regular volume control (double click the home button) for music does absolutely nothing)

    Steve
