I recently bought this external hard-drive today and filled it with some music, videos and pics etc.

I rebooted my computer about an hour ago due to a software uninstall. When starting my computer now, the fan gets really loud and the external hd makes loads of noise, it also takes a lot longer to get pass the bios screen. I also dual boot with Ubuntu too, so I selected Vista at the screen and instead of taking me to the boot logo the screen just stays black and doesn't do anything. So I turn the computer off by the plug and take the hd out of the USB plug, I reboot and it all works fine now.

So, the question is, how do I get the computer to boot into Vista correctly without having to unplug the hd everytime I boot?

you said you booted Ubuntu. Is there any chance you have the ISO for that or any other live CD on the HDD. Or is the HDD is formatted NTFS it may try to boot from it.
