ok here is my up coming problem. i am a windows user and once in a while i format my main hard drive and re install windows and then Itunes, i back up my itunes library every time i do this though since i keep my music on a dif hard drive but the last time i did it and signed in to my itunes account on my pc it said 4 out of 5 computers activated or something like that. i am using the same computer and same library just a fresh install of windows. is there anyway to get around this? i find it dumb as hell that even though its the same computer it counts it as another one if anyone follows what i'm saying here.

    common but solvable problem!

this is a very common problem! it happened to me too!! every time u format ur pc and reinstall windows itunes thinks it is a new system.. to get rid of this problem follow the steps

    1. in itunes click on store(its next to file, edit, view controls etc.)
    2. click on view my account(it will be the second last)
u will see info about ur account....scrol down to the second box where u will see computer authorisations
    3. there on the right hand side there is a button 'DEAUTHORISE ALL'
    4. just click on that
    5. then again authorise ur system so that u will hav 1 out of 5 machines authorised!!

    hope this helps!

you can only do that once per year though... not that I think you would reformat more than 5 times each year.
