Can the iPhone 3G (not S) be jailbroken, and have the 3GS features like Compass, Voice Control etc? I was also wondering if there will be a way to have Find My iPhone for free which is a feature on mobileme

    Probably not...

Those feature's will most likely be needing the correct hardware, Which is in the iPhone 3GS, Yet not in the lower models. Its not possible to just make them magically work without the hardware letting it.

    This doesn't help,
neither does the comparing chart. This is a question strictly on jailbreaking.

No, you not understanding that you CAN'T have a compass on a 3G doesn't help.

    Compass - no deal

The compass needs a specific sensor which is only available on the iPhone 3GS model.

Problem is, I would think the Voice features are almost totally software based. I wouldn't think it would be necessary to have a hardware accelerator to interpret sounds and to produce sounds from an algorithm.

At the same time, a software port probably wont come for a while due to the integration of the Voice features into the 3GS firmware. Its too tightly fitted to just drag and drop and possibly only the iPod Touch 2G would happily run it as this has the highest spec internals just under the 3GS.

    Interesting stuff people

The 3GS has a voice-processing chip, apparently. So while possible, it's probably not going to happen on a 3G.
