Maybe there are original creators :> lot of JB users don't know who is app creator (example: lot of ppl in time of keynote think that band was stolen, but truly it was show by his original creator ;p)

    Thanks!

I developed Morocco and just wanted to say thanks for the comparison and kind words. For the most part I agree with the comparisons.

But one feature of Morocco that you didn't mention is that Morocco saves the current game so you can return to it if you are interrupted. With Othello, if you get a phone call or have to exit it for any reason, it loses your game in progress. With Morocco, you can return to it to finish at any time.

That said, they are both good programs and I especially love the look of the pieces in Othello! I even like the Chinese characters which I think add a nice aesthetic touch for the look they are going for.

I think the bottom line for most people will be whether they want an easier game or a more challenging one. But clearly I'm biased, so I encourage everyone to try out both games and decide for themselves which they prefer. Also, for those few who think even Morocco is too easy and don't mind paying a couple bucks for a real challenge, I encourage you to also try out Reversi from Kiss The Machine. I have all three on my iPhone. It's great to have three very nice options for Othello/Reversi games on the iPhone!

As for the name Morocco, I chose it because Othello is a trademark of Mattell in the U.S. and of Anjar Company in the rest of the world. They have shut down other games that used the Othello name and I didn't want to risk having the game denied by Apple or pulled later if Mattell or Anjar notifies Apple of the infringement.

I personally dislike the name Reversi, the other common and non-trademarked name for the game, because it's too generic. I wanted something original to make it stand out from other Othello and Reversi games.

Since Shakespeare's Othello is believed to have been inspired by Moroccans who visited England during Shakespeare's time, I thought it was appropriate.

Anyway, I hope that explains my decision for those that were wondering.

 explain... I'm just being polite.
Thanks for the info. Knowing the background of the name really helps me enjoy it a little bit more, and I can't thank you enough for developing a completely free app.
Yep, after some quick research I found out this was the same guy who made the JB version :D

[EDIT] Post #600!, my 200th since the release of 2.0

    I like Reversi!

Thanks for the comparison! I've tried all three apps too. I am a good reversi player (been playing for years) and find the higher levels of the kiss the machine one to be about right for me. Levels 1-3 are quite easy, but I've yet to beat it on level 5, but beat it occassionally on level 4. I was thinking about playing them against each other.. reversi vs morroco, he he anyone got a spare iPhone lying around :p Also, I love the way the pieces are animated in reversi. I agree with Tom, give the kiss the machine one a go (of course I kiss my iphone - often). It's not expensive and definitely worth $2.

Oh and Tom, thanks for the history lesson :D

    Peace.

Cool, I might give that version a try sometime, but for now I think I'll stick with Morocco and keep trying to beat it on easy lol.

For my next review I think I'll do Light vs Flashlight lol.
