Me and a friend are creating a PHP app (we call OpenRepo) that can be used to create repositories easily, just by filling out repo details and adding debs.

It will be a while until released, but any more details will be added here.

As the name suggests, it will be relesed under an open-source license.

    Cool!

We should make an IPTF repo.

    You could be the manager

    Or maybe _JKK_

This looks pretty cool, props for doing it. But I don't see the point in loads of repos made by various people. Its easy enough to get your app/theme hosted on a community source and its best to have things all in one place in my opinion.

yeah, me and my friend looked at iAutoRepo, but felt that it failed miserably. And a guy called Neon/TheAwesomeGuy made a php script, but it costs and is closed source, so we are working on an open source version.

I'm involved in the project, but am not really developing anything (other than the IRC channel for it and the website). I estimate version 0.1 will be coming in a few weeks (perhaps a month). It won't be released here though, it will either be released on the official site or another forum.

Bad idea is bad. You don't want random people just adding packages that anyone can download and execute.

You mean something like my cydia-repo? I think even though this is a good idea in implementation it isn't the best to put it into PHP, unless you host repos on your server (massive no-no)

They would need to create a web server by them self & run the PHP script everytime they want to update the repo.

I don't think you understand. OpenRepo will allow you to create and manage a repo. It is in no way like MyRepoSpace. Random people cannot upload stuff and make their own account. Think of iAutoRepo
