I know that to clear the cache on a jailbroken device all you need to do is delete /var/mobile/library/cache but my dads iPhone has a problem with the icons and isn't willing to jailbreak it at least at the moment. is there a way to clear the cache through apple or without jailbreaking?

I'd just restore it. That should fix it.

sucks... apples solution to everything is restoring. can't they ever just solve the problem?? I'll just convince him to let me jailbreak it and fix it the right way, haha he doesn't use any of the icons that ar messed up anyway.

Too bad you can't just use the MemoryInfo app. That'll clear up most of the memory and help speed up your iPod. But either you buy it or get it free by jailbreaking.
