Many people on these boards are under the impression that it is impossible to brick an iPod touch. This is a common misunderstanding. The reason that many people think that it is impossible to brick an iPod touch is because it IS impossible to brick it by jailbreaking the iPod or by installing faulty programs on it. This is because these are SOFTWARE CHANGES. Pwnage does not change the software, but the FIRMWARE and the BOOTLOADER. It is fully possible to brick an iPod when messing around with the iPod's firmware, especially by using firmware that isn't straight from Apple, or if the process of modifying the bootloader is screwed up or interrupted. I just want to make sure people proceed with caution, and understand the inherent risks with messing around with firmware.
