Many people on these boards are under the impression that it is impossible to brick an iPod touch. This is a common misunderstanding.

The reason that many people think that it is impossible to brick an iPod touch is because it IS impossible to brick it by jailbreaking the iPod or by installing faulty programs on it. This is because these are SOFTWARE CHANGES.

Pwnage does not change the software, but the FIRMWARE and the BOOTLOADER. It is fully possible to brick an iPod when messing around with the iPod's firmware, especially by using firmware that isn't straight from Apple, or if the process of modifying the bootloader is screwed up or interrupted.

I just want to make sure people proceed with caution, and understand the inherent risks with messing around with firmware.

posible but unlikly. The most risky part is the pwnage prosses itself. Your esentialy modifying the bootloader witch is responsabe for loading the firmware. If for some reason that prosses is interupted. It is very likely you could damage the bootloader. Now you can't load anything. Your stuck. But it can be fixed if your good with the termminal and can replace the bootloader.

Yes, always take programs like these with a grain of salt. You are always taking a risk when modifying a device's firmware, remember that.

yeah..but only iphone are mostly at rist.. but still it is almost impossible in an iphone and totally impossible on an ipod... in the iphone it happends because when flashing the baseband.. if something goes wrong..the baseband is build and made so it trigures a security defens than can't be tap in... unless u r good at terminal... still highly unlikely that hackers will release an app that will lock up devices all over the world.. beleive me...
