Okay. So the iPod Touch 3G was just released today. The price of the 8GB was reduced to $199. Voice Control was added to the 32 and 64GB models.

So the 8GB is also a 3G (iPod Touch) with the minor hardware upgrades and improvements just like its 'Fatter' brothers? I'm looking forward to getting an 8GB 3G (iPod Touch) in November. I was confused because it doesn't call them '3G' anywhere in the iPod Touch section of the site, but it is still the 3G right? (even the 8GB model)

I think that is all I'm confused about. Also, are the dimensions of the 3G the same as the 2G?

    Thanks,

    MP.

8GB 3G was not updated AT ALL
it's the EXACT same as the 8GB 2G, just $30 cheaper

    Dimensions are the same.

    8GB 2nd-gen = 8GB 3rd-gen

Difference between the two is the starting price of $199 instead of $229.

iPod touch 3G is just what the Internet world calls it... It stands for 3rd Generation, to differentiate from its older sibling (the second model)... Apple still calls it iPod touch though...

Dimensions-wise, the new model is the same as the previous one anyway...

I think 2Gs is a better name for it, and no, only the 32/64 are upgraded, they are 50% faster. For me, personally, I think the 2G is plenty fast enough, and that it's not enough of an upgrade to warrant an upgrade. But that's just me.

Also, I guess Apple had decided to take away 17% of the battery power from the 8gb. Suckier battery means more money for them I guess.
