    It sounds like they basically have a road map of the filesystem now.

    Now all they have to do is explore? Correct me if I'm wrong.

    This means they have the entire filesystem (presumably in a dmg/iso) on a computer. What this means to you is that they can observe files, edit them, remove them and, presumably, put it back on the iPod. A jailbreak should be close if they can edit the kernel and allow for third party apps on the dmg and are able to put it back onto the device. This is like the original 1.1.1 jailbreak.
