Safe to do? I have a RebelTouch, which comes with a Universal Dock adapter so I don't have to remove the case to dock it, but some people suggest taking it off.

Is this necessary, as I don't really wanna do it otherwise.....

I've never heard of anyone taking it off to dock/charge. I never take my iPod out of my rebeltouch while charging.

I think it was studangerous that said never charge your iPod when in it's case.

Well I've had mine for several month, charging with the case on and no problems.

Lol. The issue is that all cases prevent heat dissipation and battery life is reduced at higher temperatures. Your device will get hotter when charging, more so when using a wall charger. Over time the constant higher operating temperature of your device will reduce the battery's capacity and lifespan. You won't see anything immediate but you MAY have battery problems in 18 months - 2 years, such as issues with low charge capacity or even early failure of the battery.

See the Battery Life link in my sig for more details.

Oh well (if anything actually happens) I bet I'll have a new iPod in 2 years anyway.
