    Hello,

    So I spoke to the computer administrator at my school and asked him how I am do get into the schools WIFI and he said since the connection isn't protected, anyone can get into it, but only people who use the schools MAC address can actually browse the internet. Would it be possible to change the MAC address on the iPod? If it is, how am I to do it?

    If your school uses MAC filtering, I believe the administrator must manually enter your iPod's MAC address into the "allow" list. My school sports a similar situation.

    well, here is how to change it:

    Download iBooter, connect to iBooter and type the following: (replace xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx with any mac address)

    Code:
    setenv wifiaddr "xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx"
    printenv wifiaddr
    saveenv
    fsboot
    It will look something like this:

    Code:
    Entering recovery mode, starting command prompt
     ]
     ] setenv wifiaddr "01:1c:b2:1c:2b:40"
     setenv wifiaddr "01:1c:b2:1c:2b:40"
     ] printenv wifiaddr
     wifiaddr "01:1c:b2:1c:2b:40"
     ] saveenv
     saveenv
     ] fsboot
     fsboot
     HFSInitPartition: 0x1806c298
     Loading kernel cache at 0xb000000...data starts at 0xb000180
     done
     gBootArgs.commandLine = [ ]
     usb_interrupt_write: No error
    Thanks,
    Ezra

    I'm not sure that changing the MAC address will solve the problem, however, give it a shot. The administrator may need to add your iPod's MAC address, whatever it may be to a list. I have MAC filtered my home network, just for fun. The admin chooses what devices can surf the web.
