    I installed customize and used the system strings menu in that to change mine...... worked a treat

    same here...

    same problem here:

    i used the online binary-xml converter to convert my springboard.strings, edited a few things and then put it on my ipod. for the most, it's ok. HOWEVER, i have noticed that double-tap home button (quick controls), the tags 'close' and 'music' are in caps for some reason, and when i go into wiggle mode and delete an appstore app, i get the labels as UNINSTALL_BLAH_BLAH. there are probably other problems but this is all i've found so far. what is wrong considering my springboard file (attached) looks fine?

    EDIT: ohyeah, here's my original springboard.strings file attached

    easiest way would be to just install customize it doesn't even require you to ssh into the device just install change the system strings and uninstall customize and your good to go

    Not really.

    Here's my fix for changing SpringBoard.strings without tampering with the one in the iPod:

    1) Create a theme in the Themes.xxxxx folder of WinterBoard (eg: NoSliderText)

    2) Create Bundles/com.apple.springboard/en.lproj (or whatever language.lproj)

    3) Create a file named SpringBoard.strings

    4) In that file, put in text like the following for the slide_to_unlock string:

    Code:
    AWAY_LOCK_LABEL = "";

    5) Open WinterBoard and turn on that new theme (NoSliderText in this case)

    6) Close WinterBoard. Your slider string is gone. Other strings can be edited, if you know the names for them. I have the example theme which I detailed here in the Tutorials section.

    Edit: http://www.ifans.com/forums/showpost.php?p=966839&postcount=10 - the pre-made file, which was created using the steps I detailed above, to remove the 'slide to unlock' string.

    Customize doesn't work for 2.1, and personally I think it is just a waste.
    CUSTOMIZE=FAIL
