im having a bit of trouble changing the carrier logo on my ipod touch 2nd gen. ive tried a bunch of different tutorials, following directions incredibly carefully, and none seem to work. im trying to avoid having to download multiple apps and/or overwrite files that are in the library of the ipod. the methods i have tried are:

    stash>"theme">Bundles>com.apple.springboard>FSO_CARRIER_IPOD.png

    and

    stash>"theme">Bundles>com.apple.ATT_US>FSO_CARRIER_IPOD.png

neither seem to work. any ideas on what might be causing this?

What image are you using? Make sure it has a transparent background.

Don't do all that, it's just too much trouble. Look in Cydia for an app called "Make It Mine." This app will allow you to change your carrier logo (iPod) and banner (time) in the status bar. This app is free and very easy to use. Just type in what ever you want to be your carrier logo or your banner and press the button that specifies what you are changing. It will change instantly with out having to respring.

Yes, but MIM can't put images only text as the carrier right?

Oohh... Is that what he is trying to do?? On that case, I can't really help because I've never done that. But for the text, MIM is the way to go!

Can it put symbols? Like the Apple Logo that we can put in folders and such?

I would be VERY VERY surprised if it couldn't (it just takes the text, makes it an image and puts it there... The symbols shouldn't matter as long as it's a part of the font).

i was trying to put a custom image i made using a cool font generator on the web, so plain text would be a settlement compared to what i was planning on. i photoshopped the image so that the background is transparent and it is a .png of course. the height is 20 pixels, but what are the restrictions for the width? maybe that is the problem?
