How do i change the function of the power-button?

Okay, so i dropped my iPod Touch 2G in a toilet (by accident off course), and i luckily succeded to revive it after 24 hours of white screen and no functions at all, (It turned out that i just had to let i dry)

When i hit the power-button it just turns up the volume,
is there a way to change the function of the power-button?
'Cause it kinda annoys me that i can't turn it on without letting it automatically turn on when i connect it to a charger.

what would you want to change its function to? my suggestion is sbsettings wich will allow you to power off and reboot and respring all without using any buttons

But it would be kinda nice to be able to turn it off and then turn it on later without connecting it to anything.

Well the smart thing you didnt do was turn off the device once it got wet and let it fully dry for at least a few days. No there is nothing that will change the function of the power button.
