I loved this game .... used to play it in the bars on a tabletop. Just downloaded it but I haven't played it yet (Sat. night gotta go). I'll try tomorrow and try to review.

I don't know how to link directly to the app store but here's the appshopper link

For iTunes links, just right click on the name of the item, and the only option that shows up is "Copy iTunes Store URL"

BTW: Game looks too old school, but the gameplay looks good.

So, how's this game? As good as it used to be back in the day?

If you're a fan of Centipede .... get this iPhone/iPod Touch version .... it's worth the money. Great graphics and sound. You have a choice of the original "classic" mode, "arcade" mode and the "ultra" mode which gives you various power-ups and shooter upgrades (read the app description) and various additional creatures.
The game controls are simply sliding your finger up/down and sideways while your gun is automatically shooting. I like that you don't have to clutter the screen by tapping to shoot.
Clear the screen of the Centipede and move up a level. Your high scores are recorded.
The only complaint I have is that when you move your gun up on the screen, your thumb or finger blocks what may be happening below.
I think Atari did a great job of porting this classic game to the iPhone/iPod Touch and in my opinion well worth the $4.99.
