Can't upgrade firmware with 10.

    Just like the thread title says I cant upgrade my firmware to 4.1 on itunes 10. Everytime I try it loads the firmware but won't/can't verify with apple and kicks me back.. anyone else has this problem or a solution please help!

    iphone 3gs on 4.0.1 and blobs saved on cydia..

    remove the entry from the hosts file

    it says: iphone "xxx" cannot being restored at this time because the iphone software update server cannot be contacted or is temporarily unavailable. ummm wtf?

    Reset your internet and restart iTunes. Nevermind my previous post.

    You might be right iPod Touch FTW. Have you changed your hosts file at all metroplex? You might have done it without really remembering if you were ever trying to downgrade your ipod?

    I have no clue on what you guys mean about a host files. I read earlier on modmyi.com about going to C:/WINDOWS/system32/drivers/etc and searching for a hosts file there but it has nothing inside of it that says anything about apple server. Please help I can't even upgrade to 4.1 to use limera1n...

    remove the "#127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com" entry. That is what is screwing you up.

    Ok I have exactly the same problem and I have removed the host file but still can't connect to the Apple servers. Been trying for hours and its driving me mad!
