    Hi,
Just purchased a 2nd hand iphone and I cant make a call on it. It is locked to O2 and just bought a O2 sim card today. When I try and enter the number and register it says 'call failed' immediately. The signal strength seems to be zero, although it does indicate that it is 'O2 - UK'.

    Can someone help please. Thanks.

I think you haven't connected too the iTunes.Try out this, switch off the phone then put the simcard in it then connect iphone to the iTunes. After doing so click on the iTune store and then go back to iphone. Now wait for a while. After it has said that your iphone is unlocked backup your iphone and restore the full system.

Thanks for the reply. I have followed your instructions and when I hit the home button it says 'Waiting for activation' 'This may take some time'. Although it never gets past this...

    Hi,
I have had the phone unlocked now. And I am happy that it is unlocked.

Although the signal strength is still zero. : (

Also the phone says 'Waiting for activation' - 'This may take some time' when I power it on!!!

Do you have it on airplane mode? EDIT: Oh wait, your phone's waiting for activation, you should bring the phone to your gsm provider and ask them to activate it for you.
