I had been trying to get 2.0.1 and kept getting error (1)- then figured it must be because i hadn't upgraded to itunes 7.7.1 or whatever it is. (i had done DFU several times and never got recovery mode).

so i ungraded itunes. i even repwned itunes and made a new ipsw, but i cannot get the touch to get into DFU. i get connect to itunes symbol and i'm forced to restore and try again.

    please help.

what type of DFU mode are you putting it in

it must be with a black screen not the one with the usb cable and the itunes logo

to get into the black dfu mode hold down the power and home for ten seconds then leave go of the power button and hold onto the home button for ten seconds

i have tried holding til black and let go of top button (which worked before) and top button and turn off, wait 5 sec, hold both for 10, let go of top for 10 (which worked before).

i had the blank screen before i upgraded itunes.

    1. Hold home + top for 7 seconds.
    2. Let go of top after 1 second it turns off. Keep holding on home.
    3. Let go of home after it appears in iTunes. (for me it appears in 14 seconds.) o.o

    I hope that helped.

uninstall itunes, mobile devices if its still there and the bonjour service

then restart and install the latest version and restart and then try

you need mobile devices for the ipod touch and iphone drivers and if removed wont work without them

bonjour is needed if you want to work the remote app on the ipod touch

    ok. did this.

it makes the last sound, but makes about 3 or 4 in a row and then the screen flashes and goes to symbol again.

about the mobile device: when i got updates for the new itunes, i had to install the newest mobile device first. is that good or no?
