    Hello guys
    I've been trying to downgrade my iPod touch 2G firmware for all day.
    I bought this iPod ten days ago so im new to the iPod thing.
    I upgraded my firmware version through iTunes 9 a few days ago, but after I did it i wanted to Jailbreak my iPod, which I understood is not possible with firmware 3.1 installed. only with firmware 3.0.
    So I tried to downgrade the firmware at the begginign with iTunes 9, I connected my iPod to my PC, turned DFU mode on and than pressed SHIFT+recover, inserted the iPod firmware that I downloaded and than I got error 1601.
    Than I readed somewhere that I need iTunes 8.2, So I deleted iTunes 9 COMPLETELY from my computer using this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925?viewlocale=en_US
    and installed iTunes 8.2 which I downloaded from HERE: http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php
    Than I did it all over again. connected my iPod, setted DFU mode on, pressed SHIFT + restore and inserted the firmware file again, and this time I got error number 20. than I tried again and got error 1602.
    WHAT THE HELL?

    Please somebody help me! PLEASE

    Recover=Restore* my bad. sorry

    NOTE: When I first bought this iPod, it was installed with 3.0, not with 3.1, I upgraded to 3.1 later. so I should be able to downgrade it but in fact im NOT.

    DFU mode worked for me no problem whatsoever 3.1.1 > 3.0 with iTunes 9

    I dont think you are allowed links to firmware here so remove the links
    to save yourself getting banned dude.

    Try shift-clicking "check for updates" and point it to a 3.0 ipsw.
    (No DFU mode)
