I've just finished Jailbreaking my Touch with touchFree.06. Installer.app was successfully installed and everything is fine. Because I'm nowhere near Wi-Fi, I want to install the apps myself.

As described in this video, I got CuteFTP, entered my iPod's IP, used root as the username and alpine as the password, hit connect, and wait for teh "Connecting" dialog finish. What I got is an error message:

So I choose Yes and it takes me back the where you enter the user/pass. I make sure I've entered root and alpine, and hit next. The Connecting thing comes up again, and aftera a few seconds, I get this

What should I do? I really don't want to restore and jailbreak again (and besides, I have over 5 gigs in there already ...)

I have this same problem. I've tried multiple combinations, and tried even with my software firewall on and off. Any ideas?

Try resetting/removing any encryption from your router. I had the same problem and that seemed to solve it for me.

I sadly don't have access to the router itself. Is there any way around that? I know the connection on the touch side works, I'm able to work in safari and in Apollo.

Yeah, I agree with you, wildrice128. Safari definitely works here.

I reset my router about 3 weeks ago. I was having some problems with P2P and Bi*******, and reseting did the trick.

By the way, does anyone know if I have to kill all the itunes/apple stuff and THEN try to FTP into the Touch?

I've been reading around, and it looks like closing ALL the itunes/ipod processes in task manager is helpful.

Edit: Well, at least it couldn't hurt.

Wifi is on, connected, touch is set up to never go into sleep mode, but the connection still times out.

Hey, I've figured out a new method! I'm writing it out now, I'll have it up in a sec.
