On my iPod Touch(2.0.1) I find two folders called "Applications":
    1. /private/var/mobile/Applications containing all the Apps downloaded from the App Store. (To get their real names you habe to open the folders and find the app.)

    2. /private/var/stash/Applications containing
    a) the apps from Apple included in the firmware and
    b) the app downloaded by Cydia or Installer.

Under / I find a link called Applications linking to /private/var/mobile/Applications

    Hope this may help you

The "Applications" folder at / it's not really a folder, it's just a shortcut to the actual folder, which is in /private/var/stash/
You have a file called Applications there, but maybe your program doesn't know how to read it.

Pelaez-1 is right! The link goes to /private/var/stash/Applications. Sorry about this.
