Hello. I am running a 16gb iPod Touch 2G on 2.2.1 jailbroken with redsn0w. I am unable to restore the iPod touch to 3.1.2. Whenever I choose the file it says the firmware file is not compatable.. So.. what are my options? I have tried restoring to 3.0 and 3.1.2 without success. I am running iTunes 9.0.3... something.

Apple stopped signing 3.1.2. Sorry, but either stick to 2.2.1 or go to 3.1.3 unjailbroken.

I was considering 3.1.1 but I have heard that it is locked down. Would I be able to upgrade to 3.1.3 unjailbroken then jailbreak it?

    Thanks

nope, just upgrade to 3.1.2 with a .ipsw file and then shift restore

This is my 4th iTunes reinstall and it looks like i'm finally getting progress. It's actually installing without an error... so far. First I got a "this file is not compatible..." after two downgrades I got rid of that error then started getting number errors. I tried it on my other partition of Vista and that didn't work either.. Then upgrading back up to iTunes 9.xxx it's finally working.

One of the times iTunes even made both of my DVD drives disappear... also the iPod wouldn't connect... uninstalling and reinstalling again fixed that... fail
