Hi Everyone, Can anyone help me as I cannot get my Ipod touch 2G to go into DFU mode, I've tried holding down the power and menu button as stated in many guides for 10 seconds and releasing the power while still holding the menu button, but it will not go into DFU mode at all.

All i can make it do is go into the recovery mode with the apple itunes connect icon (this is not DFU mode)

I get error 1603 when trying to upload custom firmware in itunes so i know it's not in DFU mode.

Can anyone help, I've tried loads of things, holding down for longer, connected to computer and not connected to computer

    Thanks

Hold the home button for a longer period of time, e.g.20 seconds. Make sure the USB is connected to the iPod.

There are two main ways to get into DFU mode.. both described here. Keep on trying and make sure your device is well charged.

try to hold both power and home button for 10 sec,
during the 10 sec, plug ur itouch 2g into ur pc
then after that 10 sec (ur itouch sld be pluged into ur pc alr), u release the power button but do not release the home button
hold the home button for another 20 sec or so
ur comp will detect the itouch in dfu mode
    then release ur home button

    it worked for mine
