    same problem

well, the same happened to me, (now i am on 2.0) but i found something from an spanish guide, ill translate it to you

Once you have iTUnes 7.5, you must set your iPod into DFU mode.

    1. Conected to iTunes
    2. Press the sleep and the home button at the same time until it turns off. Just when it turns off, release the sleep button, but still holding de home buttons. it will turn on, but nothing will appear on iPod's screen, just on your PC, it will say that found and ipod in DFu mode, et, etc. Just when your PC detected, release the home button. THen en iTuens, press ''SHIFT+CLICK RESTORE'' and selec your 1.1.4 FW. If you have a problem, just aks.
    ------------------double post merged------------------

i recommend you not to dongrade to 1.1.5, i read that it is not complete, dongrade it to 1.1.4, it's better and complet

    I had the same problem...

First I got an older version of iTunes, then I put it in DFU mode...

I got the error 20 again, restarted my computer...and it worked!

    So, you're on 1.1.4 or 2.0?

if 1.1.4, is wierd, try more with other USB 2.0 ports, or try using Ziphone, in the ''show'' advanced features'' you have an option ''recovery mode'' USE THAT

IF 2.0 try to downgrade your Tunes Verison to 7.5

    --------------------------------------------------------

INSTRUCTIONS to downgrade your iTunes version - 7.7 to 7.5:

    1. You need the iTunes 7.5, file, that you can download it from here
    2. So, here we have in our computers te 7.7 version.
    3. To donwgrade to 7.5 versionwe havo to go to: START/MUSIC/ITUNES/
    4. In this folder ther should be a file called iTunes Library.itl, we need to rename the file adding the after the .itl, this: .old. Should be like this:

    iTunes Libray.itl.old

    5. Good, now we are able to install iTunes 7.5 witch you download it from item 1

If you have questions, just ask!.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

INSTRUCTIONS to set your iPod into recovery mode using Ziphone:

    1. Connect your device to your computer (try it when de device is off, if it doesn't work, turn it on). It doesn't matter if iTunes does not recognice it

    2. Open up ZiPhone. if you dont have it, donwload it from ziphone.org

    3. Once there, press where it says: ''SHOW ADVANCED FEATURES''

Please Register or Log in to view images

    4. Now more options will be shown. Press where it says ''RECOVERY MODE''

Please Register or Log in to view images

    5. DONE!!, now just wait until iTunes recognice it, (it will say you to restore it, you clcik OK and thene click on ''RESTORE''

    any question?
