    I was just wondering:
Is it possible to restart the springboard through (for example) Term-vt100?

Here ya go: launchctl stop com.apple.SpringBoard

The little spinner will pop up and send you to the lock screen.

If you have Erica's Utilities installed, you can just type: restart or if you're logged in as mobile: restart2

Thank You! The killall command worked for me. I was in safe mode and didn't want to do a tethered restart and I came across this thread. I know this thread is old, but thanks anyway.
