Are you sure it's not just the headphones? What proof do you have that it's the port?

I have exactly the same problem. I had been using the Apple in ear headphones, the wire frayed a bit, and I could only hear out the right unless I held it in a certain way.
Just this friday I got a pair of Senheissers, and they have the same problem, but it only happens on my iPod.

I hope to replace mine soon.

    easy fix

fixed my son's - first bought a jack of ebay and realised it would all go wrong if I started soldering - then I got a converter which plugs into the docking slot and lets you plug your headphone jack into it...

easy and works better than the normal socket as the converter has a better amp in it/

just search on ebay for headphone adaptor touch

mine does a similar thing. When the jack plugged in gets bumped i can only hear out of the right ear until I unplug the jack and plug it back in.

I was looking at replacing mine (along with cracked glass and lcd) @ ipodjuice.com but the prices seem a bit high.
