I noticed that when themes go from one page to another that there is a black bar, or column, between them. Is this avoidable? Can you have two images right next to each other when you're flicking between them?

Not really, the best you can do is get Five Column Springboard (I'm not sure if that is the actual name, search "Five" on Cydia and you will see it, it squishes the apps a little closer so it gives the illusion that there is no line there. Hope this helps!

Oops, just re-read your comment. I didn't mean the space between the individual icons. I meant the space between the pages of icons.

five column springboard almost completely eliminates the space between icons on different pages
plus it allows you to have 20 icons on each page rather than 16
try it out and see if this is what you are looking for

AH!!!!! he means when yo are half way to switching to another page in between the pages there is a gap!!!

    GOD! READ CAREFULLY!

perhaps you could create certain wallpaper creating an illusion that the gap between the pages isnt there.

Exactly! That's what I was interested in doing but I don't want to go through all the work if it won't line up exactly. The idea was to make 4-5 pages and when you flip through them it looks like you're going across a mural.

okay, i cant find it, but youre gonna have to incorporate javascript and html since youre essentially making a widget.
