I was wondering if you can just put any movie on your itouch or does it have to be specifically downloaded from iTunes. Could I just burn a DVD onto my computer and then put that one the itouch? I've tried doing that before and it didn't seem to work.

It didn't work because the format is not right. Just convert it with a software called Handbrake (Mac and PC) and then put it on your iPod Touch.

I use Handbrake as well. It's really the only thing that ever worked for me.

Footnote: Copying DVDs is illegal, but nobody cares and nobody's ever been sued for copying a DVD for personal use.

If you bought the DVD and your not distributing it, it's completely legal.

You're obviously not using the correct software, and this is illegal any how.

But any file such as MPEG-4 or AVI should import into iTunes.
