I just jailbroke my iPod touch, and I don't have wi-fi. I could easily take the bus to a friend's house with wi-fi, but its late and that would be a hassle. So, I would like to know if there is a way to add apps without it. I have been reading and there is a way to access the iPod's harddrive through explorer with programs and such. So, can you install apps without Installer?

Yes, you can install apps without Installer. You can use an SSH client, which requires wifi, or you can use iphonebrowser or total commander over USB. Place the applications in /Applications, and then set permission to 755.

Alright, seems simple enough. I am assuming Total Commander is a program. You think you could direct me in the right direction to getting it? I am new to these forums and don't know where to find everything yet.

    Google it, my friend.

(For future reference, you will not be able to get certain things talked about here directly from this site. Most notably, illegal ROMs, and other pirated content. Total Commander/iPhonebrowser are not against site rules or anything; they just can be found elsewhere.)

    P.S. Welcome to the forums!

So I got Total Commander. Just don't know how to go about accessing the iPod. This is my first iPod, and I don't of any other way of accessing other than through iTunes.

I've never used Total Commander, but I assume you do the following:

*Connect iPod to the computer via USB (like iTunes)
*See if the program recognizes your iPod.
*Browse to the directory /Applications. (Once again, I haven't used this program, so do your best.)

The iPod has a UNIX filesystem, so the directories go like this:

    (example)

    /System/Library/Coreservices/...

    and

    /Applications/Calculator.app/...

The farther right you go, the "deeper" you are going into the filesystem.

Think of the directory / as the top of the pyramid.
