How do you plan to activate the 3G iPhone when ZiPhone can't do it?

Alright, that made no sense at all. No, you will not be able to purchase a 3G iPhone without making a 2-year contract with AT&T. Or, for us Canadians, a minimum 3-year contract with Rogers. ZiPhone cannot jailbreak the 3G iPhone on Firmware 2.0, and I don't understand why you would want to go back to EDGE speeds of 2G/2.5G networking.

Well we don't know for sure that Rogers won't sell it outright, because o2 & Vodafone have made it outright so they might copy if they have a brain that works. Then again North America is impractical and rips u off compared to Europe when it comes to Cell Phones.
p.s. i used to live in England now i live in Vancouver, Canada.

I'm even willing to pay $550 for an iPhone without a contract.

Well by the looks of the invoices and ect apple has sent out now the answer is no... But Im sure there will be screweups and some will get leeked out.

However if you dont mind paying 400$ for the 8g iphone then I believe you can sign the contract and pay 200$ for the 8gb, then use it a month and cancel, they will charge you 200$ plus what minutes you used and ect, and you get to the keep the phone and everyone is happy.

But getting the phone wont be much good untill they jailbreak it, so I whouldent worry about it right now.

i'm totally with u on this one, im selling my ipod touch 8GB (jailbroken) to get enough money for the white 16GB iPhone 3G and i wish the contract wasn't obligatory.
