My iPod Touch tends to have a little charge every day, either at college plugged into the USB port of the PC while transferring work (I use it as a removable storage device as well) or when im syncing some songs using iTunes.

Is this doing any harm to the device or weaken the battery?

multiple charges can reduce battery life. leaving it plugged in for long periods of time however doesnt affect it.

Actually leaving it plugged in is worse.

OK leaving it plugged in means it is constantly getting power to it. which means that it will kill the battery cells slowly because of a power over load. I did it to my iphone

Lithium Ion batteries deplete at a constant rate; the amount they are charged makes no difference.

Technically, if you leave it plugged in for days with no use at full battery, it could water down the battery so that the full charge capacity is lowered a bit, but other than that, there is no difference made by the amount of charging.
