    I have been hearing things a while ago saying that the iPod touch 2G bluetooth chip can also be used as an FM radio receiver. Now that Apple has unlocked the bluetooth chip, can we do this now?

    Who is this "We" you speak of? I think you mean Developers. Apple didn't just "Enable" it. They enabled A2DP, nothing else.

    Yes, by "We" I meant the community/developers. Sorry for not being specific enough.

    Well, the APIs included in the Apple SDK will not allow you to developp bluetooth apps for anything else than AD2P or wireless games, so it will not provide any function to develop an FM receiver, we'll have to do that on our own i guess.

    Since we have access to the chip now, we should be able to determine it's capabilities, enabled or not.

    We won't ever have the fm reciever working without modifying the hardware. There's no antenna.

    @Sprint_User
    I've been keeping tabs on these topics of bluetooth and the development (ok I lied, im constantly checking for updates every 12 hours or so ;] ) and the reports u read about the Chip, having FM, is apart of 3,1 iPt. It also includes wireless 'n' (faster connection).. I don't think iPt 2g caters a FM chip or the 'n' speeds. (could be wrong though).

    @developers.
    Please D: i know there's source codes avaliable, i just want to connect my GPS bluetooth adapter so i can get gps on xGPS

    The iPod touch 2G has a chip which supports 802.11 b/g / Bluetooth 2.1 EDR / FM. So I guess we're down to hardware modifications here. Or not, because I for one can't see why an FM-signal can't piggyback of the Wi-Fi-antenna!?
